Ways we give
Here at Pioneer Church, we think about giving as widely as we can.
So although you'll find a video about financial giving below this section, hopefully you'll see that we're all about you asking God all the ways you can give back to him.
Importantly, please never give out of a sense of earning your place with God.
You are already fully loved, accepted and wanted.
You're a royal heir.
We give because it delights our heart to partner with God in bringing his Kingdom (his ways) here on earth.
We give our time.
Time is one of the most precious things we have. We can't store it, save it, or earn it. It's the same for all of us, and with so many competing voices - how do we see giving our time?
Maybe there is a community project, volunteer scheme or charity you feel is on God's heart - such as St John Ambulance, TT Marshalling, Park Run, or helping a school.
It may also be that you feel your time could be given to a faith community - such as Graih Homeless Shelter, or the Salvation Army.
If you wanted to give time to Pioneer, that would include helping us lead courses, admin support, welcome at our various ways of being church, and more. Have a chat with us.
You may be able to give your skills
All of us have gifts, skills and experience we can give to help make this world a better place and bring about the way God thinks this planet should work.
Maybe you can offer financial help to a church, charity or even a school. Perhaps you have pastoral skills of listening and understanding. You may be a great cook (we always need food), and be able to give your cooking skills away. Even driving is a skill needed by the Food Bank and by the hospital. Think around your skills and abilities.
For Pioneer Church, if you feel prompted to give us some of your skills and time, let us know. We have one person offering admin support, and another engaging 1-1 with people in the community to help them find good housing. Anything goes!
We can pray.
God calls all Christians to pray - talk to God about the things that are breaking your heart, and his. Ask him to intervene.
If you'd like to join a community of people who are exploring this further, head to the Church Communities page and join the PRAY SPACE WhatsApp group for more.
We can give financially.
It's also part of the Christian life to think of ourselves as stewards of God's resources and money, rather than just that everything we have is for ourselves.
Maybe you feel able to help a charity such as Motiv8 Addiction Services, or Crossroads Carers. Maybe you help raise money for Hospice, a cancer charity, Leprosy Mission or other charities. Maybe your money gets water to the poorest people, or helps fight the global human traffikking crisis.
You might also want to help Pioneer thrive as a church by giving to us. Nothing happens truly for free.
Just make sure that if you choose to give your time, skills, prayers or money, that you are able to do that.
Maybe you need help
It's really important for us to say that should you ever feel that you personally are in need of help, that we can help get you to the right place.
We know debt counselling services, homelessness charities, anti-addiction charities, carer charities, and more.
You will not be judged by us, and we will make sure we support you as much as we can while experts in their own field get you back to a place of wholeness, healing, and strength.
Pioneer Church and financial GivingThis 5 min video will take you through what we think is a healthy and Bible-rooted way to think about how we give.
Giving is a basic part of living as a Christian, but it's not as simple as 'give us a percentage of your money please and leave the thinking to us'. Hopefully this will shed light on the way we think about it..
